Unveiling a new parking fee regime, EDMC also proposed new minute based car parking rates, which includes 50 per cent additional charges in peak hours between 5 pm to 9 pm.

According to EDMC proposals, car owners may have to shell out Rs 10 for parking a car for half an hour, Rs 20 from 30 mins to one hour, from the one to third hour car owners need to shell out Rs 50 and after three hours Rs 20 will be added to every additional hour. Earlier, car parking rates were Rs 10 for 10 hours.

They have also proposed to increase the monthly car parking rate from Rs 500 to Rs 1,500.

The EDMC had also proposed to levy Rs 1,200 per annum as Professional Tax on salary, wage earners, consultants, insurance agents, businessman and entrepreneurs with earnings between Rs 5 lakh to Rs 10 lakh per annum.

Those who earn more than Rs 10 lakh per annum will have to pay Rs 2,400 per year as Professional Tax. The EDMC plans to fish in Rs 20 crore as revenue from professional tax in the next fiscal.
