Promoter buy 8.78 lakh Airtel shares worth over Rs 26 cr

Bharti Airtel today said one of its promoters Bharti Telecom has acquired over eight lakh shares of the company worth around Rs 26.75 crore through market transactions.

Bharti Telecom has bought 8,78,514 shares in Bharti Airtel worth around Rs 26.75 crore, the telecom company said in a filing to the BSE.

These shares were bought through three different market transactions on March 18-19, the filing added.

After the transaction, the shareholding of Bharti Telecom in the company has increased to 45.72 per cent from 45.70 per cent, the filing said.

Shares of Bharti Airtel today slumped by over 4 per cent to close at Rs 281.15 on the BSE a day after a Delhi court summoned as accused the company's Chairman Sunil Bharti Mittal in a case pertaining to allocation of additional spectrum to mobile operators.

Yesterday Bharti had plunged about 5 per cent.
