Chennai: Microsoft India has introduced ‘Project Vikas’, an initiative to IT-enable the small and medium enterprises (SMEs), to the leather clusters in Chennai and other centres in Tamil Nadu. `Project Vikas’ is a joint project of Microsoft India and the National Manufacturing Competitiveness Council of the Union government with the focus on driving IT penetration to SMEs by skill and capacity building.

The government has identified 25 sectors. Microsoft has already developed IT solutions in partnership with software developers for 10 sectors including the knitwear cluster in Tirupur, Rajiv Sodhi, director, emerging geographies, Micorsoft India, said here on Thursday.
