Private medical colleges can hold own entrance exam: SC
Express news service :New Delhi, Dec 14 2012, 03:09 IST
The Supreme Court on Thursday allowed private medical colleges from across the country to hold their own entrance test for admission to under-graduate courses for the 2013-14 academic year, but restrained them from declaring the results until its further orders.
The interim order was passed in a bunch of petitions challenging a notification by the Medical Association of India, disallowing private colleges from conducting their own exam. A Bench led by Chief Justice Altamas Kabir passed the interim order while also allowing the Centre to go ahead with its National Eligibility and Entrance Test.
The private medical colleges have challenged the NEET. The SC has posted the matter for January 15.
