Amid increased arrivals from producing belts and subdued demand, potato prices fell by 0.30 per cent to Rs 731.10 per quintal in futures trade today as speculators trimmed their positions.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, potato for delivery in March fell further by Rs 2.20, or 0.30 per cent, to Rs 731.10 per quintal in business turnover of 2 lots.

The potato for delivery in the April contract also weakened by Rs 1.60, or 0.23 per cent to Rs 705.10 per quintal in single lot.

Market analysts said the fall in potato at futures trade was mostly attributed to increased arrivals from producing r egions against weak demand in the spot markets.
