With nearly a dozen such cases being reported in the last one week, the state police force has been kept busy taking cognisance of such complaints and pushing the ‘accused’ behind the bars.

One such case came to light in Sonepat, where a widow, a resident of Chitana village, alleged that she was gangraped and threatened by three persons eight months ago. She alleged the accused, identified as Manoj, his brother Sunil and their friend Harvansh, had barged into her house and raped her. They also allegedly sold her plot by duping her. The police got her medically examined and based on her complaint, on Sunday arrested the trio on charges of rape, criminal intimidation and cheating.

In another incident, a 26-year-old woman in Hisar alleged that she was repeatedly raped over two years her father-in-law, Suresh. In her complaint to Satheesh Balan, Superintendent of Police, Hisar, she alleged that a few weeks ago also, Suresh allegedly raped her in a fields when she was returning from her parents’ home in Hisar to Gurgaon with him. The complainant’s parents have alleged that she is mentally challenged and Suresh was taking advantage of her medical situation even as her husband Naveen and mother-in-law Dulari were aiding Suresh in committing the crime. The SP has marked a probe to DSP, Hisar, Salochna Gajraj.

Similarly on January 2, another case of rape came to light in Rewari, where a second year BA student alleged that she was intoxicated, raped and then shot at by her cousin on November 3, last year. Based on her complaint, the police registered a case on charges of rape and attempt to murder against her cousin and arrested him.

Another case that came to light is that of a Bhiwani based 17-year-old girl. The victim, a student of 10+2, alleged that she was abducted by a distant relative and raped. The initial probe indicated that it was a case of elopement. However, the victim being a minor, rape charges were levelled against her relative. Earlier, both had went missing from their homes on
