Police check records of Aadhaar applicants
“We are going through the applications Aadhaar registration on the day of the crime. We are culling out details of those that match the description of the accused provided by the victim. These will be shown to her. Once this is done, we will trace the accused from the address and other details provided in the application,” said senior inspector Radheshyam Agrawal, Shivaji Nagar police station.
Agrawal added that investigations show that the accused was not an employee of the school. “The girl is disturbed and is not in a condition to give a detailed description or statement. Showing her the photographs will spare her the trauma of narration,” he said.
The victim saw the accused — a bearded man in his 40s — loitering on the second floor of the school building on Saturday afternoon. The man allegedly grabbed her, forced her inside the toilet and molested her. He then fled. Police said the incident lasted only a couple of minutes, and the man was gone before the girl could react.
The school was hosting an Aadhaar card registration drive, due to which people were entering and exiting the school throughout the day.
