New Delhi: : Speedo, the world’s number one swimwear brand, has appointed Planet Sports Pvt Ltd its exclusive distributor and licensee in India. Planet Sports will market Speedo merchandise through its Planet Sports outlets in Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Pune and Chandigarh, besides a network of specially appointed dealers. It is also in the process of tapping leading shopping malls in Delhi and Mumbai to place the range on their shelves. At a later stage, once it strengthens its brand presence, it will explore the possibility of setting up shop-in-shops.

Apart from competitive and recreational swimsuits, Speedo has expanded its product line to include beachwear, leisure apparel, children’s swimwear, as well as a collection of aquatic accessories and equipment. While the swimwear and accessories will all be imported, the beachwear and leisure apparel line, which will be launched next year, will be manufactured locally. The designs will be adapted from Speedo’s global portfolio. The swimwear, which includes ranges for men, women and children, will be in the price range of Rs 669 to Rs 1,179.

Says Mr Pradeep Shekhawat, general manager for Planet Sports Pvt Ltd,‘‘The possibilities for Speedo in India are enormous and we will concentrate on promoting the brand.’’ A leader in the pool today, Speedo’s global success can be attributed to its innovative, high-performance designs, combined with revolutionary fabrics like ‘Fast-Skin’ suits and ground-breaking manufacturing techniques.
