Russian media report that an Aeroflot plane carrying 256 people from New York to Moscow has made an unscheduled landing in Iceland after a report of a bomb on board.

The ITAR-Tass news agency cites Aeroflot spokeswoman Irina Dannenberg as saying the report was made by an anonymous caller to New York City police after the plane took off.

The plane, an Airbus A330, landed at Iceland's Keflavik international airport Thursday, where baggage and passengers were being inspected.
