



New Delhi, Aug 30: The per capita income at current prices had posted a growth rate of 11.1% in 2004-05 as compared to 2003-04, in keeping with the steady increase in the per capita income in recent years. Data released by the ministry of statistics and programme implementation on Tuesday said the per capita at current prices during 2004-05 was estimated at Rs 23,308 compared to Rs 20,989 in the year before.
There has also been an increase in per capita income in real terms (at 1993-94 prices). It in real terms is estimated to attain a level of Rs 12,416 in 2004-05 compared to Rs 11,799 in the previous year, showing an increase of over 9%. The per capita income at current prices has been steadily rising over the last five years, the release said.
The annual increase has been 6% in 2000-01, 7.7% in 2001-02, 6.8% in ’02-03, 10.2% in ’03-04 , finally touching 11.1% in 04-05.
The corresponding growth rate in the consumer price index for industrial workers for the same period has been 3.8%, 4.3%, 4%, 3.9%, and 3.8% in that order.
The real gross domestic product (GDP) grew by 6.9% during 2004-05.
According to the revised estimates of annual national income for 2004-05 , the GDP at current prices last year was estimated at Rs 28,30,465 crore, indicating a growth of 12.3% over the quick estimates of GDP for the year 2003-04, which was estimated at Rs 25,19,785 crore.
The national income at current prices for 04-05 also showed an increase of 12.6%, according to the release.
