Patil reprimands officials for delay in completing Slum Rehabilitation Project
This was directed by him in a meeting held with the officials of the UT Administration immediately after the public hearing session on Monday.
Coming down heavily on the UT Administration officials for the slow progress of these flats and other housing projects, the Administrator has conveyed to the concerned officials to complete the dwelling units in Mauli Jagran for the economically weaker sections by March 31, 2013 or, he added, that they will be taken to task for the delay.
Further during the meeting, once again the paucity of land for the housing scheme floated for the UT employees came up.
To this, it was iterated that the UT Administration will be seeking 100 acres from the neighbouring states to construct houses for its employees after identifying the land.
Sources say that the proposal came by after the officials brought it to the notice of the Administrator that even as hundreds of employees working in UT’s departments do not have a house, there is not much land left in the city to accommodate their housing needs.
To this, the Administrator asked the chairman of the Chandigarh Housing Board, to work on the proposal of fulfilling the needs of the employees of the UT Administration and to also communicate with GMADA and HUDA for working out some proposals around this.
