Paranjpe defeats top seed Bisht

Sameer Paranjape of Pune defeated top-seeded Arvind Vishnu Bisht and enter the men’s singles main draw in the Solaris Club All India Ranking Men’s Tennis Tournament, on Sunday.

In the final qualifying round, Paranjape, who originally hails from Nashik, trounced Bisht in straight sets 6-0, 6-2 at Club Solaris, at Mayur Colony, Kothrud, said a press release issued here.

The other qualifiers are; Neeraj Elangovan (Tamil Nadu), Suresh Krishna (Andhra Pradesh), Reynold Timothy (Kerala), Yash Deshpande, Prateek Agawane (Maharashtra), Advait Sadvilkar (Maharashtra) and Anvit Bendre, said the release.

Meanwhile, Andhra Pradesh’s PC Vignesh, the India No 11, has been given the top billing in the men's singles event . Maharashtra’s former Davis Cupper Nitin Kirtane is seeded second in the 32-player draw. The seedings were announced by tournament director, Ravindra Pandey, the release said.

The men’s doubles event, which is part of this first ever men’s All India Tennis Association (AITA) tournament conducted by Club Solaris, will begin on Tuesday.

Men’s Singles (Main Draw): 1. PC Vignesh (Andhra Pradesh) ; 2. Nitin Kirtane (Maharashtra); 3. Ajay Selvaraj (Tamil Nadu); 4. Shabaaz Khan (Maharashtra); 5. Kunal Anand (Delhi); 6. Naveen Sai (Delhi); 7. Tejas Chaukulkar (Maharashtra); 8. Vignesh Veerbhadra (Tamil Nadu).
