P K Bansal's region gets generous share of Rail Budget 2013 projects, trains
the youth in railway-related trades in 25 locations spread across the country.
Three of these locations -Chandigarh, Pathankot and Sirsa - fall in the region.
The 10 new trains proposed for the region include Amritsar-Lalkuan Express (Weekly) via Chandigarh, Bandra Terminus-Hisar Express (Weekly) via Ahmedabad, Bathinda-Jammu Tawi Express (Weekly) via Patiala, Chandigarh-Amritsar Intercity Express (Daily) Via Mohali and Ludhiana, Delhi-Ferozepur Intercity Express (Daily) via Bathinda, Delhi-Hoshiarpur Express (Weekly) and Indore-Chandigarh Express (Weekly) via Ujjain.
Bansal also proposed a new passenger train Bathinda-Dhuri Passenger (Daily) and a new MEMU Service between Delhi- Rohtak (which would be replacement of conventional service by MEMU).
Out of the eight new DEMU services proposed three - Delhi-Kurukshetra via Kaithal, Rohtak - Rewari and Taran Taran - Goindwal Sahab will run in the region.
Bansal proposed extension of five trains in the region out of a total of 57 proposed for the entire country.
The frequency of four trains destined for the region has also been proposed to be increased by the Railway Minister.
These trains are Delhi-Pathankot Express 3 to 6 days, Indore - Amritsar Express 1 to 2 days, Kochuveli – Chandigarh Express 1 to 2 days and Madurai - Chandigarh Express 1 to 2 days.
Bansal also proposed construction of five new railway lines in the region and electrification of five projects during 2013-14 out of which four are in the region. He also proposed doubling of five existing single line railway sections.
Out of the 60 surveys for new lines proposed by Bansal seven fall in the region.
