Despite the onset of monsoon getting delayed this year, Gujarat has clocked over 53 percent of the average annual rainfall in the first week of August this season, state government sources said.

Among the various regions of the state, Saurashtra has received the highest rainfall, registering 60.74 percent of its annual quota while Kutch has got the least with 35.17 percent, a release from the state government stated here on Thursday.

The rainfall recorded this August this season in North Gujarat (43.92 percent), East & Central (50.20 percent) and South Gujarat (51.65 percent) were close to the half-way mark.

Meanwhile in the last 24 hours, 50 talukas of the state recorded good rainfall with Mahuda taluka of Kheda district recording 73 mm (or three inch) rainfall during this period, the release added.
