Only DDA nod needed for elevators
There is good news for residents of Delhi Development Authority (DDA) flats. The agency has revised rules to sanction quick approval for installation of elevators in these buildings.
The revision of rules will benefit those living in old DDA complexes in areas such as Alaknanda, Saket, Vasant Kunj, Munirka and Sarita Vihar.
The new rule states that all those interested in installing elevators in their buildings will need to approach DDA, even if a flat has been transferred to a civic agency. Earlier rules held that if a colony has been transferred to the MCD, an allottee would be required to approach the MCD for no-objection certificate. But if the colony was still under DDA, the application for an NOC would have to be sent to Director (Housing) DDA.
“The new norms are aimed at simplifying the procedure for DDA flat owners. These norms were notified after orders from the L-G’s office recently,’’ a DDA official said.
Sources said after the trifurcation of MCD, the process would have become more complicated. “Earlier, DDA flat owners had to apply either to DDA or MCD, depending on under whose jurisdiction the colony fell. Now, there are three civic agencies, and occupants who had applied to the (unified) MCD might be told to re-apply with the corporation concerned. This was leading to a lot of confusion and a need was felt to simplify the procedure,’’ a source said.
