On the occasion of Bhai Duj on Thursday, women will be able to travel free of cost on Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) buses, Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit said on Monday. She said the decision was taken to allow women to meet their brothers without any hassles.
Transport Minister Ramakant Goswami said women would be allowed to travel in all non-air conditioned DTC buses between 8 am and 5 pm on Thursday.
DTC said it will run special buses to allow commuters to reach the India International Trade Fair 2012 at Pragati Maidan from November 14 to 27.
“The special buses will charge ordinary fare from the passengers. Buses on route no.261 (while going towards Pragati Maidan) will go via Delhi Gate and Ring Road. While returning, they will go via Mathura Road, Tilak Bridge and Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg,” an official said. He said traffic supervisory staff will help commuters reach the fair.
