Chennai: Chennai-based BPO (business process outsourcing) company OfficeTiger is sprucing up its Indian operations by opening its third facility in Chennai.
Company officials said the new facility, which spans over 53,000 sq.ft. of space, is expected to be functional by the third quarter of 2004.
In an e-mail interview to eFE, Chris Aronson, vice-president, Enterprise Document Solutions, OfficeTiger said: “Our manpower is expected to grow from 1,700 at present to 2,500 by the end of 2004. The new facility will provide the necessary space to house our rapidly growing employee base.”
OfficeTiger had recently announced an alliance with Hildebrandt International (Hildebrandt), a global player in legal consulting services to form OTH Services. Mr Aronson, said: “The venture marks the official launch of OfficeTiger’s legal outsourcing services in alliance with Hildebrandt. OTH Services will provide fully customizable scalable and cost effective on-site, off-shore or hybrid outsourced solutions to legal firms. The services will range from document processing to case processing including business, legal-research, finance and accounting.”
He added, “The alliance will leverage the underlying synergies of Hildebrandt and OfficeTiger to capitalise on the growing demand in the legal market for comprehensive consulting and outsourced service capabilities.”
OTH Services will target law firms, law departments of public and private companies, non-profit organisations, law departments of governmental agencies, courts and related judicial organizations in the US and UK.
He said that the outsourcing by legal firms, though a relatively new concept, has a huge potential for growth. “Legal outsourcing is a clear opportunity since law firms are becoming very competitive. They are looking at reducing their costs and offshore outsourcing can be a viable option for them. The approximate current spending for support services by top 200 US law firms alone totals $19.92 billion in 2004. Assuming a very conservative outsourcing potential of 10 per cent, the resulting market opportunity is still about $2 billion,” Mr Aronson said.
The company had sometime back announced that it was looking at inorganic growth. Commenting on the company’s plans, Mr Aronson, said, “We are always looking for ways to bolster our expertise and expand our service lines across the vertical markets we serve. We are currently exploring several opportunities along these lines.”
Headquartered in New York, OfficeTiger provides corporate information BPO solutions to professional service firms and Fortune 500 companies. Currently the company employs over 1,700 paraprofessionals across three facilities in Chennai and New York.
