Washington, June 28:: Taking a tough stand against outsourcing, the presumptive Democratic nominee Senator Barack Obama said that the choice is between giving tax breaks to companies that ship jobs overseas or give benefit to those corporations that keep jobs domestically.

"We can keep giving tax breaks to companies that ship jobs overseas, or we can give tax benefits to companies that invest right here in New Hampshire," Senator Obama said at a joint appearance with Senator Hillary Clinton in Unity, New Hampshire.

"We can have a tax code that rewards wealth and hands out billions of dollars more to big corporations and multimillionaires. Or we can provide a USD 1,000 tax cut to 95 per cent of families in America, start rewarding work and not just wealth, and eliminate income taxes for seniors making USD 50,000 a year or less," Obama said, adding that's an agenda for change that we can believe in. That's the choice that we can make in this election.

"We can allow millions of Americans to work full-time but still not make enough to support their families, or we can raise the minimum wage, index it to inflation, and ensure that hard work pays off in America," the Illinois Senator said.

"I don't care black, white, Hispanic, Asian, Native American, young, old, rich, poor. It doesn't matter. There's this sense of what this country is fundamentally about, a fundamental goodness, and that if we tap into that, I am absolutely convinced that we can lift this country up to new and greater heights.

"This is one of those moments in our history when we have to tap the decency of the American people. This is our chance to turn the page on the policies of the last seven and a half years. This is our chance to bring a new energy policy to America and new ideas to America," Obama said at a historic moment during the campaign trail.

"So here's the choice in this election. If you like the direction America is going, then vote for Senator McCain, because you'll definitely get more of the same. But if you think we need a new course, a new agenda, then vote for Barack Obama and you will get the change that you and we need and deserve," Senator Clinton said in her opening comments.

I high encourage the Obama decision, because of outsourcing not everyone will become rich in India. Who are all working in IT company they will become rich, but the other graduates or other educated people cannot earn like IT people and this will make big difference between indians. All prices are increased because of outsourcing, the traders are thinking now the peoples are earning good salary then why dont we increase the price of our product. The basic necessary prices are also increased like vegetable, rice, etc. My dream is also INDIA should become a rich country, but i think this is not the correct way. JAI HIND.

I know India produces millions of graduates. Therefore, all citizens need to get together and create your own economy do not live off the west. That way, you can create millions of jobs.

I think its a wrong decision thinking that outsourcing should be stopped because India posses quality labour with low cost so India can do bussiness with any countries but USA cannot get people like us so they should realise be benefited to thier country and for others

» Outsourcing is a concept
Posted by aks on 2008-11-04 23:51:12.797507+05:30
Outsourcing is a concept which came 40 years ago. Even huge Indian Banks outsource departments like credit cards and others to IT companies. Be practical this concept will take some beating to stop specially for a capitalist economy like U.S. Guys we buy equities and pressurize the Companies to pay us more for our money and long term goals for companies are only possible if they outsource Jobs they don't specialze in. This concept has given birth to many companies. All these companies will shut down if you stop outsourcing. Yes the concept has brought some changes Plenty of Jobs, Fat Pay packets, Attrition, Nightlife etc. But it has also created jobs for millions worldwide who would have been jobless or would have actually headed to other countries rather than staying in their own. Outsourcing is a bliss for those who make a living out of it. people who want to think negative can Bite Dust because Outsourcing will stay regardless of America getting some laws in place against it or not.

Wow, so he really wants to stop outsourcing, admirable but does he really want the big companies to go belly up? They now hire 5 people for the price of 1, where will the profit be for his country I wonder? Especially since I get so many calls that the previous AMERICAN agent was soooo Impolite to the customer.... Funny ain't it? Especially since I'm from the Philippines.... Ain't that hilarious pardner? Go figure it out...

» Outsourcing has made life harder in India for Middle class, forget poor....
Posted by Rick Modi on 2008-10-23 17:59:14.069646+05:30
with outsourcing coming to India, people make money just by conversion of $ to rupee, one part of the society makes 1 lakh of salary per month, while the other is making Rs.5000 (average worker) per month. there is no compairson, housing in India is just now only for people who are making big money, flats in small cities are going for Rs.30 Lakhs, I guess if you convert this amount in US$ you can buy a 2 bedroom house in USA, just imagine the cost of housing. Young people don't want to work hard, just want to make money in companies who are out souricng work from USA, less effort good money. But let me tell you we have a very poor manufacturing sector, needs tough and hard regulation to bring up, even people mentality has to change. America has grown on Hard work in Industry like Electronics, Mechanical, Chemical, Medical, Defense and Aerospace, and other allied industries.Indian will have to work hard in all sectors.Housing market price has to be realistic, or Middle class will have no decent house to live in.

» How to Adress Increased Inflation and Global Compition?????

How does this address the increased inflation and reduced cost mergins that is some how allowing most of the Outsourcing companies to earn profit even all the benefits the Obamas and Hillary is talking about will Go Vanish if we total up the potential surplus the americans companies are making...it will diffenetly effect the countries like india as a temporary trend but as big gaint has already started getting settled in the Global market with others like China...which are already started giving sleep less nights to American and Europians Inverstors...the world is changing its face from west being dominating global markets from to the countries which can give results cheaper and Better:) end of the best one will service...the technology has boomed the asain markets to be best of the markets....it will be really hard for America to servive as they need us like they need petrol from Gulf..l.:)

Mr Obama will be doing the world a favour by stopping the outsourcing. He should also stop skill migration as well. This will make the indigenous population work a bit harder and slow down the inflationary pressure on the world. The earnings of some CEO are so obscene for little or no contribution or skill to the well being of the society on which it feeds voraciously while living them free to manipulate markets to feed their simplistic greed while 50% of the world that struggles to find next meal pays the heaviest price.

Vinod, you made a good point. Yes, India can create jobs for themselves if the government is not corrupt.
