NTPC Ltd, a central government PSU, will soon start work on its 1320-MW thermal power Katwa thermal power plant at Burdwan district, a project was caught in a controversy over acquisition of land as well as acquisition of coal block. State minister for power Manish Gupta, with whom NTPC chairman Arup Roy Choudhury had a meeting last evening, said. “NTPC has already got 556 acres of land. It as told us it will purchase the remaining piece of land (150 acres) from land owners . They will start work soon. With this, a project that has been hanging fire for long has been cleared and we have heaved a sigh of relief,’’ Gupta said.
