Now Panjab University students to give feedback about teachers
The recommendation for the evaluation system provided for students with 75 per cent attendance to give their feedback on the teachers.
Senator I S Sandhu said that if this system is implemented in colleges then various college managements will start using this feedback system against some teachers for their personal grudges.
Senator Keshav Malhotra said, “With this system, bargaining will start among teachers and students regarding assessment marks and feedback. It will add more burden to administration only.”
Taking stock of the opinions, PU Vice-Chancellor Prof Arun Kumar Grover said that this could be implemented as a form of guidelines. A performa will be made for this system and the said performa would have slabs related to attendances.
“If PU wants to be at par with its top peer institutes we need to have this system. All good engineering colleges and IITs have teacher feedback system. Students come and go, but teachers remain there. Teachers should not be afraid of it,” the V-C added.
Grover clarified that it will be feedback system not evaluation. However, Senator S S Sangha apprised the House that feedback is also part of National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) inspection criteria.
