Mumbai, November 5: : Novotel Mumbai Juhu Beach (formerly Holiday Inn on Juhu Beach ) will reopen in early 2009. The hotel will be the city’s newest upscale hotel after being closed for 15 months for a total renovation under the guidance of renowned Singapore interior designer IMA Interiors.
A one-time icon of the Mumbai social scene and one of India’s most prominent hotels, it was first developed in 1976 and soon after became the centre of what is known today as the heart of Bollywood. Located on vibrant Juhu Beach in western district of Mumbai, the hotel is being redeveloped at a cost of approximately Rs. 100 crore or US$ 22 million. Positioned on a 2.5-acre beach front site of Arabian Sea, and just 8 km from Mumbai’s airports and the key Western Express artery, the Novotel Mumbai Juhu Beach will feature 203 guest rooms and suites and boasts Novotel’s signature Premier Floor and Lounge for guests wishing for an upgraded experience.
Novotel Juhu Beach promises a return to its erstwhile position on Mumbai’s ‘most-happening’ scene, with a selection of exciting dining concepts. Novotel’s signature all day dining concept Square will feature an open show kitchen, where ever-changing international and Indian favorites converge into an interactive environment certain to become a must return venue for the whole family. Olio will offer live cooking using authentic Turkish and Italian wood fired pizza ovens. For those with an exotic palette, Mumbai’s famous Sampan will return, reincarnating itself with Cantonese and Sichuan specialties. Bageecha will serve alfresco Tandoori and barbecue located between the hotels swimming pool and the beach. At Gadda Da Vida, guests can watch the sun set over the Arabian Sea while unwinding with modern jazz.
Michael Issenberg, Chairman and Chief Operating Office, Accor Asia Pacific said, “The Novotel brand offers a new start to a hotel that has been a part of the Mumbai hotel scene for a long time. Once completed, the hotel will be an illustration of how traditional hotels in India can be reborn as contemporary hotels for the modern traveler and is certain to be an attraction to the local residents for dining and events. The Novotel brand is quickly finding traction in India and the Novotel Mumbai Juhu Beach on opening will mark our third Novotel on the continent”.
