Notices to Haryana over ‘improper implementation’ of RTE legislation

In his petition, Bijender Singh contended that the instead of “increasing the availability of teachers” to implement the RTE, the government was reducing their number.

Citing rules, the petitioner has alleged that individual attention was required to be given to all students. But, this was not feasible by reducing the number of teachers and by reducing weekly periods of the subjects.

It has been further alleged that Haryana was deploying “thousands of teachers in various non-teaching works, like being deployed as booth-level officers for preparing new voter lists, which was against the spirit of the RTE.”
