The Delhi government on Wednesday said the transport department has started issuing showcause notices to dealers selling e-rickshaws in the city.

Transport Minister Ramakant Goswami said the sale of e-rickshaws in the city will be stopped till the vehicles are brought under the ambit of any regulation.

“These vehicles are fitted with battery of more than 250 watts. The department is working on a policy for e-rickshaws, which will be formulated soon,” Goswami said.

“Officials of the transport department found a number of auto-rickshaw chassis in the market and the inspecting team was not able to find their owners. On recurrence of such incidents, the department would register FIRs,” Goswami said.

Instead of framing rule first than stopping others government is stopping entrepreneurship. This just show how they are not interested in progress
