Non-judicial stamp paper design revised
According to a finance ministry release, the stamps are serially numbered, so as to make the task of tracking very easy. Complexities in the security features are commensurate with the face value of the stamps. High value stamps are printed on special paper with intricate security features and will be easily identified.
Production and supply of these new stamp papers has already started. Security printing press, Hyderabad, has started printing of stamps up to Rs 20 denomination and India Security Press, Nasik, has started printing the stamps in the denominations of Rs 50, Rs 100 and Rs 500. All these stamps are now being sent to the states. The stamps in the denomination of Rs 1,000 and Rs 5,000 are under printing and will be dispatched in the near future in a phased manner. Further, the stamps in the denomination of Rs 10,000 to Rs 25,000 are in the process of design and printing.
During the past one year, the ministry has conducted numerous technical sessions in which officials from the Central, state government treasuries and revenue departments have been adequately trained to identify counterfeit documents.
