No houses for disabled should be given to others: HC tells MHADA
The court was hearing a petition which contended that though the official policy is to keep aside 3 per cent of the flats for disabled persons, the actual reservation is only 2 per cent and the remaining are allocated to persons who are not disabled.
The court was hearing a PIL by NGO India Centre for Human Rights and Law, which referred to section 2 (I) of the MHADA Act, 1976 which lays down the quota.
The court had passed a similar order in May last year in response to the petition. However, the petitioners on Thursday pointed out that the quota is not being filed this year either, after which the fresh direction was issued.
The case will now be heard in June.
