The new Ahmedabad Police Commissioner, Shivanand Jha, is ready with a new blueprint to control the rising offences in the city as well as bring in a change in policing. The Ahmedabad Crime Branch has been given the responsibility to chalk out a detailed action plan on various crimes disturbing the law and order in the city and measures to control it.
Jha, while talking to The Indian Express, said, “I am here to bring in a change and streamline policing. The city needs better governance and a timely watch on its activities which shall be the priority of each policeman.”
Soon after taking over as the police commissioner a day earlier, ADGP Jha held a meeting with senior officers of Ahmedabad police and discussed various issues.
“We have observed that the property offences (loot, thefts, burglary etc.) are not getting detected as fast as compared to body offences. The rising property offences in the city is a major concern,” he added.
While talking about the prospective crime map, Jha said, “All the areas in the city have a particular nature of crime history and we will be tagging each area, zone, locality accordingly.”
