Dr Santosh Kumar, Urologist from PGI, has devised a new technique in single incision laproscopy of giant hyatid cyst in a kidney. The technique has been recognised internationally and named after the doctor as ‘Santosh-Technique’ in the Asian Journal of Endoscopic Surgery, an authentic and prestigious journal.

According to Dr Kumar, parasitic cystic tumor of kidney is a rare disease and its rupture can lead to shock and death.

High drama was witnessed at KFC restaurant, Mohali, on Wednesday when a man allegedly found a pin in his zinger chicken. Pramod Kumar, 32, a resident of Khanna, was having his meal when a pin stuck into his gums which resulted in bleeding. Kumar, a Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) employee, had come to town to take part in a protest. The other customers raised hue and cry about the deficiency of services. The matter was, however, resolved, when the staff apologised to Kumar. He then decided not to lodge a formal complaint.

5 remanded in police custody for robbery bid

Five accused of a robbery attempt at a petrol pump at Industrial Area, Phase 2 were remanded in judicial custody by a local court on Wednesday. All five accused, namely Majid, Naem, Talib, Kafil and Shaqeel are residents of Indira colony, Sector 17 and were nabbed by the Panchkula Police on Tuesday. “We got a tip off and reached the petrol pump. We found the group indulging in suspicious activities,” police said. A case has been registered under Section 399 and Section 402 of the IPC. Investigation revealed their involvement in other crimes as well.

Pregnant woman beaten up over petty quarrel

A pregnant woman was beaten up by some villagers following a petty quarrel in Jhampur village late on Wednesday. Paramjit Kaur, the victim, is presently admitted to Civil Hospital, Phase 6. Police said, she was beaten up with some blunt weapon by her neighbours over a petty issue. Her statement was recorded and her medical report is awaited. A case is yet to be registered.

Man held for molesting dispensary employee

The Chandigarh police, on Wednesday, arrested a youth for allegedly molesting an employee of a dispensary in Khuda Lahora. The accused has been identified as Dilbag Singh, a resident of Muktsar in Punjab.

According to police, Dilbag had been harassing the 21-year-old victim for the past one and half months by repeatedly calling on her mobile phone. Around 10.30 am
