Soon, lawyers will not have to go searching as to when their petitions will come up for hearing. The Punjab and Haryana High Court has prepared an application which will send an SMS to the concerned lawyer the moment the High Court Registry clears a petition for hearing. The application will be formally launched on Wednesday in the High Court Bar Association.
The lawyer, who has filed the e-petition will receive an SMS informing him that his petition has been cleared for hearing.
The High Court, a few months back, had launched the system of e-filing with an aim to fast-track the justice delivery system and end the morass of paperwork. This allowed the litigants and lawyers to file their petitions on the official website of the high court ( www.highcourtchd.gov.in).
The petitions will be submitted in the PDF (protected) format and will have to bear a digital signature of the lawyer or the litigant. Once submitted, the website will generate and send a receipt number to the litigant. Also, the petitioner will be informed the date and the Bench before which the case will be listed for hearing.
Easy, effortless access to cases and instant receipt of court orders form the pivot of this project initiated by the Computer Committee of the High Court.
The facility has already been made available for runaway couples, who seeking court orders for immediate police protection, will not have to wait for days to receive the orders. Under the new system, they can simply submit their petition through a CD, pen drive or floppy disk to the High Court’s filing branch, which will within minutes, list their case for hearing the next day.
