I think CBI need not feel sorry for the raid. CBI has done its job and it should be proud of keep democracy intact. CBI should know that no one is above the law which includes PM and all politicians. Whole of India knows how corrupt Karunanidhi, family and allies are.

CBI left high and dry, after realizing intent

In case CBI had really carried out the raid on its own, there is no need for it to be defensive about it. On the other hand, if the raid at this point was at the behest of the UPA, they should clearly state it. From the manner in which the government is expressing its ignorance and unhappiness about the raid, goes to show how the CBI is being left high and dry to fend for itself, once the purpose to corner the Kalaigner to come around is achieved by the Congress, as much as it implicitly warns CBI for taking the government's prior consent in actions concerning against its allies. It is becoming clear that it is impossible for honest officers to work independently in CBI, without inviting the wrath of the government as in the instant case.
