'How I Met Your Mother' star Neil Patrick Harris, whose hosting gig at the Emmys this year garnered mixed response, has decided to stay away from hosting duties for sometime.
Harris acknowledged that the Emmy Awards this Sunday may not have been his best effort, reported Us magazine.
"Emceeing the Emmys was fun, but I'm sure glad it's over. Looking forward to not hosting anything for a long time," Harris tweeted.
It was not the first time that the 40-year-old actor turned host. He has previously hosted Tony Awards in 2009, 2011, 2012, and 2013 but he could not work his magic well on the Emmy audience this time with many celebrities criticising the awkward comedic timing of the show on Twitter.
"Ummmm... Emmys, when will we dispense with the dance montages? No one likes them, y'all. We'd rather hear from the ppl we're honoring (sic)," actress Martha Plimpton tweeted.
"Is it just me or is this show really really really weird?" radio host Billy Bush contributed.
Taking a dig, comedian Michael Ian Black tweeted, "Next year, spice up the Emmys a little by not having them."
