Following a spate of crimes against women, particularly minors, the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) is likely to summon the top brass of the Haryana government including the chief secretary, DGP, home secretary and woman and child development department officials. This, however, is not the first time that Haryana officials have fallen foul with the NCPCR. The NCPCR had previously summoned DGP R S Dalal and woman and child development department officials after alleged sexual exploitation of women inmates at Rohtak-based shelter home Apna Ghar. “We have sought a detailed report from Chief Secretary P K Chaudhery on the recent incidents. If the reply is not satisfactory, we will have to summon him, as his junior officers, who were summoned earlier, have failed to comply with recommendations,” said Vinod Tikoo, a NCPCR member.
