While there was no official word on who will be the next Chief Minister of Gujarat, Sardar Patel Bhavan which houses the Secretariat went into a huddle planning for the swearing-in ceremony of the new CM that is likely to happen on May 22.
As top ministers met for hours to chalk out details of the ceremony which is likely to happen at Mahatma Mandir, Gujarat in-charge Om Mathur met Revenue and Urban Development Minister Anandi Patel, the frontrunner in the race for Narendra Modiís successor. The new incumbent will be announced on Wednesday following a meeting of observer Thaverchand Gehlot with all the BJP MLAs. On the same say, Modi, after attending one-day special Assembly session, will resign as CM.
Modi is scheduled reach Ahmedabad along with general secretary Amit Shah from Delhi on Tuesday. The BJP has planned a grand reception for the PM-designate at his Assembly constituency Maninagar on the same day.
While Anandi Patel spent second half of the day holding meetings with MLAs and important visitors, her senior Cabinet colleagues, including Finance Minister Nitin Patel and Energy Minister Saurabh Patel, were huddled at formerís office for finalising swearing-in ceremony details.
