Former Army Chief Gen V K Singh will be addressing the ex-servicemen rally as a “distinguished guest” at the rally where BJP’s chief campaigner Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi is going to be the star attraction on September 15 in Rewari, Haryana. This was confirmed by BJP spokesperson Capt Abhimanyu Sunday.
Abhimanyu, who is also the convenor of the 51-member organising committee of this rally, however, sought to play down Singh’s presence in the rally claiming that it was being organised by this committee while BJP was only making “arrangements” for the rally.
“There is a committee of ex-servicemen which is organising this rally. There are many people associated with BJP in that committee, but there are a few who are not associated with BJP. The aim is to organise the largest ever ex-servicemen’s rally. We are expecting almost 25 officers of the rank of Major General and above on the dais with about 1,000 ex-officers also participating in the rally,” Abhimanyu said.
The organising committee of the rally met in the Capital Sunday and discussed various issues of national security and welfare of the ex-servicemen which BJP’s chief campaigner Narendra Modi would raise in the rally.
