Narendra Modi beaten to 'first' spot by former Pak prez Pervez Musharraf
Express news service :New Delhi, Mar 13 2013, 11:41 IST
Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi sought to compensate the Wharton snub by addressing a gathering of Indian-Americans through a video call organised by the Overseas Friends of BJP arm of the party.
Though his 'India First' remark was lapped up by media as a novel idea, it emerges that a similar phrase was used by former Pakistani president Pervez Musharraf when he quit from his position in 2008.
Musharraf had then said he always put 'Pakistan first'. In fact, Musharraf’s Twitter handle is @PakistanFirst.
It seems Narendra Modi, who has a penchant for verbally abusing ‘Mian Musharraf’, had not been briefed about this coincidence.

Arshad Ali | 13-Mar-2013Reply | Forward Modi wants to become popular by copying words by others.Anyway he is expert & excel in cheap tactis..he don't deserve to be PM.
Cheap patriotism
Dilip | 14-Mar-2013Reply | Forward It is amazing how much delight it gives some of these commenters that country's enemies are beating one of our country's elected officials. Shows how low patriotism goes. Just to make Modi look bad you make such comparisions. Unless of course you are from Pakistan, then you should not be commenting on PM candidate for India![]()
