The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation has begun conducting oscillation trials on Reach 3 and 3 A of Namma Metro putting the 10.30 km line in a position to begin operations on the much awaited stretch by January 2014, BMRCL officials said.
The BMRCL had earlier indicated completion of oscillation trials, speed test certification and safety trials by the Commissioner of Railway Safety and opening for commercial operations on Reach 3 and 3 A by late November or early December.
ďWe have started the oscillation trials which will take about a week and after that we have to go to Commissioner of Railway Safety for speed test certification. Safety trials will then be conducted by the Commissioner of Railway Safety,'' BMRCL managing director Pradeep Kharola said.
Reach 3 and 3A between Swastik Circle and Yeshwanthpur and Peenya is expected to ferry 45,000 passengers per day when opened. Only 6.7 km, on the 42-km first phase of the metro project, has become operational so far.
The 10.30 km stretch of the metro with 10 stations on reach 3 and reach 3A was to open for commercial operations in September to add to the 6.7 km in east Bangalore.
