What does success mean to you?

Getting increased income and secured employment for our shareholders/members means success to me. Therefore I strive to make Hansiba, the brand owned by the artisans, a national and global brand. I feel happy to see that now the members no longer need to migrate in search of work and income. They are now secure in their villages because they have enough work and an assured income. Their children are able to go to school. To see their quality of life improving is a meausre of success for me...to see that they have begun to dream, makes me feel happy and successful.

What is your biggest strength?

Our 15,000 shareholders, our members, our producers — that is my biggest strength. The work we do is extremely challenging and becomes frustrating at times. Whenever confronted with a challenge, I go to the artisans and share it with them. They give me the strength and courage to face the same.

What’s your stress buster?

It is quite simple. I just meet, talk, share and learn from our artisans. It really helps me bust the stress. It also gives me immense hope, strength and inspiration to cope with the toughest of challenges. Spending time with my two sons, talking to them and swimming also helps me relieve stress. I find it very therapeutic.
