Each student is supposed to get a cheque of Rs 500 to buy new clothes for winter.

As the Opposition raised allegations of delay in handing out the cheques, the chairperson of Education Committee (North), Rekha Gupta, voiced her support.

The officials might be waiting for students to buy their own jerseys, shoes and uniforms as there is no way they will come to school without jerseys in winters,” Gupta said.

Leader of Opposition in the House Mukesh Goel demanded that the cheques be handed to students at the earliest. “To my knowledge, not a single school has received the cheques.
