Maharashtra Youth Congress president Dr Vishwajeet Kadam has launched the 25-day Samvad Padyatra — covering 500 km and walking nearly 25 km a day — to “understand the problems of people in drought-stricken areas in the state, to “console and comfort them and spread the importance and utility of water conservation.” Ironically, his father Patangrao Kadam is the minister for Relief and Rehabilitation department, which is entrusted with providing relief to citizens reeling under severe drought.

Since the beginning of his state-wide tour, MNS chief Raj Thackeray has targeted Deputy CM Ajit Pawar and Industries Minister Narayan Rane, both known to be in close touch with him, but has not uttered a word against usual opponents Shiv Sena and Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan. After clarifying that he would not take up cousin and Sena president Uddhav Thackeray’s offer for a tie up, Raj has been mimicking Pawar at every public rally, leaving his party workers wondering at the sudden shift in strategy.
