Pravasi Indians to be involved for dev: Ravi MP commended on core sector dev projects

Bhopal, September 22:: The Finance Ministry has commended Madhya Pradesh government for registering remarkable progress in various infrastructure development projects being carried out with the assistance of Asian Development Bank.

The urban water supply and sanitation projects were progressing considerably with the release of work orders worth Rs 624 crore, an official statement said.

The evaluation of tenders worth Rs 100 crore is in progress and others involving Rs 40 crore have been invited.

"Laudable work has been done by the state government by according sanction to the works to the tune of Rs 950 crore," Finance Ministry Joint Secretary Arvind Mayaram said after a meeting of tri-party review mission held here yesterday.

Mayaram said works like potable water supply, management of solid waste and disposal of sewer water would be executed in a scientific manner on completion of these projects.

"This would help the citizens of Bhopal, Indore, Gwalior and Jabalpur get rid of drinking water problems and pave way for inflow of foreign capital investment in urban sanitation and beautification projects in these cities," he added.

He said other states should also draw inspiration from MP in implementing such projects.

He also asked the state governments to undertake works on priority basis, which are of urgent nature, in view of devaluation of the US Dollar for quite some time.

ADB has provided aide for various projects in energy, rural and urban roads construction in MP.
