More power: New sub-station to power growth in West Delhi
“Najafgarh and adjoining areas are witnessing an accelerated level of growth. I am sure setting up this grid sub-station will help power this development,” Yusuf said on the occasion.
The sub-station is being constructed in partnership with Delhi Jal Board (DJB). It will be the 78th sub-station in the BSES Rajdhani Power Limited (BRPL) area of South and West Delhi. The sub-station promises to substantially improve power and water supply for nearly three lakh people in the area, BRPL said in statement.
The power demand in West Delhi is growing at a rate of 10 to 12 per cent annually. The present load capacity in the area is 150 MVA (120 MW). After commissioning of the sub-station, the grid capacity in the area will increase by 50 MVA, BRPL said.
“This 66/11 KV -50 MVA Najafgargh grid is a symbol of the partnership between BRPL and DJB. As it is partly funded by DJB, this 66/11 KV grid station will be completed in a record time of 12 months. Once completed, it will power future needs of the fast-developing areas in West Delhi, including Najafgarh,” BRPL CEO Gopal Saxena said.
The Grid will also benefit the DJB pumping stations in the locality. It will also power adjoining areas like DMRC staff quarters,
