The police on Monday arrested a model, Anjum Nayar, for allegedly abusing, threatening and misbehaving with police personnel who had gone to her house after complaints from neighbours that she was playing loud music in the early hours of Monday.
Police said Anjum was inebriated at the time of the incident.
According to the Oshiwara police, they received a call around 1:30 am Monday from residents of the Samarth Angan building in Oshiwara, who complained of loud music coming from Anjum’s house on the 20th floor of the building. After the call, two beat constables patrolling the area at the time were instructed to go to the spot.
When the policemen reached Anjum’s house and asked her to turn down the volume, she allegedly used abusive words and threatened them. The model was allegedly inebriated at the time of the incident and was with some friends.
“We called female officers, who took her for a medical check-up to confirm alcohol intake and imposed a fine of Rs 1,200 for exceeding the permissible decibel levels and using abusive language.
On Monday evening, after we received reports of her medical examination that confirmed she was under the influence of alcohol, we picked her up from her house. We have now placed her under arrest,” an officer with the Oshiwara police said.
Inspector Baburao Mukhedkar of Oshiwara police station said Anjum had been booked for threatening and trying to deter a public servant from discharging his duties and criminal intimidation.
“We will produce her in court Tuesday,” he said.
The police have also collected the CCTV footage of the building floor, which allegedly shows the model abusing and threatening the police personnel.
