New Delhi: : Reliance Infocomm subscribers in Delhi, who opt for fully mobile services, will be assigned 10-digit numbers in the series 93100 to 93114. Similarly, subscribers in Mumbai for the the company would be assigned numbers starting with the series 93200 to 93214. This is because the department of telecommunications (DoT) has assigned Reliance mobile switching codes (MSC) 100 to 114 for Delhi and 200 to 214 for Mumbai. Reliance has been assigned MSC codes for twenty such cellular circles in the country. This is significant since while the first two digits assigned to various operators was known, the MSC codes - which constitute the next three digits - assigned to them was not known. DoT has informed the operators about the same.
As for Tata Teleservices subscribers, their numbers will start from 97100 to 97104 in Delhi and 97200 to 97204 in Mumbai. TTSL has been assigned MSC codes for nine cellular circles.
Shyam Telecom’s subscribers in Punjab would get numbers in the series 98750, where as Himachal Futuristics Communications Limited (HFCL) subscribers in Punjab would get numbers starting from 98770.
It may be recalled that the DoT has alloted 92 for Bharti Televentures, 97 for Tata Televentures and 93 to Reliance Infocomm for their mobile numbers.DoT had accepted the Trai recommendation regarding numbering scheme for all fully mobile services should be at the same level as that of GSM (global system for mobile communications) cellular services. It recommended a 10-digit numbering scheme of 9 P XYZ aaaaa, where 9 is the full mobility access code and P is mobile operator code. Trai had said that large operators could ask for a separate operator code.
