Mirah Hospitality, which runs the 'Rajdhani' chain of restaurants, today said it has formed a joint venture with food writer and critic Jiggs Kalra and aims to open 12 outlets within one year.
"Another association for us with Jiggs Kalra and his entrepreneur son Zorawar Kalra, who have garnered worldwide critical acclaim in the field of hospitality over the years.
"We are confident that this partnership will provide the finest Indian cuisine in the country and overseas," MirahHospitality & Food Solutions Managing Director Gaurav Goenka said in a release.
The JV,' Massive Restaurants' is planning to open two restaurants in Mumbai and Delhi simultaneously in the first quarter of 2013 to be followed by launching 10 more units in India and strategic international locations within the first year of operations.
As per the terms of the joint venture, the Mirah Group will provide investment, infrastructure and the back-end support, while Jiggs Karla will provide expertise in food and catering.
'Massive Restaurants' will be launched in three phases. In the first phase Mirah Group will invest Rs 20-25 crore and Rs 40-45 crore in the subsequent phase while the investment for the third phase has not been decided yet, Goenka said.
Food writer and critic Jiggs Kalra has to his credit the introduction of 'Punjab Grill' brand over five years back. He has exited from the brand.
'Massive Restaurants' will operate under three brand verticals viz Fine-Dining Restaurants, Smart Casual Dining Restaurants and Luxury Mithai.
Mirah Group with a turnover of over Rs 800 crore is a diversified entity engaged in real estate, hospitality, travel and insurance, time share, wind energy generation, computer education, textiles, corporate gifts and international trading.
The Group operates brands like Rajdhani, Cafe Mangii, and Falafels apart from Citrus Hotels, Palette Food Courts and Nouvelle Hospitality Solutions under its hospitality division, Mirah Hospitality & Food Solutions.
Mirah Hospitality has also got international brands like Manchester Cafe Bars and the London based Dim Sum Chain Ping Pong in India apart from strategic alliance with brands like Mad Over Donuts and Impresario Group.
