Though the firing has stopped but search operation is still going on.
Sources said that two militants probably fidayeens sneaked into a ground adjacent to the CRPF camp at Bemina this morning. The CRPF men were playing and busy in the exercise when they were attacked by the militants. Soon after the attack, Special Operation Group of Police and the CRPF men engaged the militants in the firing.
Police spokesman, Manoj Kumar confirmed the attack on the CRPF camp at Bemina and said five CRPF jawans and two militants were killed in the encounter. ''The search operation is still going on,'' he said.
Officials said the militants who sneaked into the camp got also killed, however they are still searching if any other militant is hiding in the area. The CRPF camp is located near the Police Public School; however, the school was closed today due to the strike in the Valley.
This is the first fidayeen attack of the militants in the city this year. Senior Police and CRPF officials are monitoring the operation. The firing resulted in panic in the city and many localities close to Bemina were sealed by the security forces.
This is the first suicide attack in Kashmir in the last three years with the last such incident taking place in January 2010.
