Metro station No 2 in Nehru Place by 2016
The South Delhi locality, which has one of the countryís largest information technology markets, already has a Metro station on the Central Secretariat-Badarpur corridor.
A new Metro station will come up in Nehru Place as part of the Janakpuri West-Botanical Garden corridor that will directly provide connectivity between South Delhi and the satellite town of Noida.
The corridor will also bring the domestic terminal of Indira Gandhi International Airport on the Metro map. The new underground station will be constructed on the Outer Ring Road, opposite Paras Cinema.
Five entry and exit points, including a subway across the busy Outer Ring Road, will be constructed. While one entry point will be near Paras Cinema, the other will come up on the road leading to Lady Shri Ram College.
Three other entry points will be built near Nehru Enclave and Veer Savarkar School near Nehru Place. However, there wonít be direct connectivity with the existing Nehru Place Metro station.
The detailed project report of the Metro says 19,546 people are expected to use the station. By 2031, the number will go up to more than 30,000.
Many residential areas such as Nehru Enclave, Kalkaji and Chittaranjan Park will benefit from the second station at Nehru Place.
