The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) and the Delhi Tourism and Transportation Development Corporation (DTTDC) on Wednesday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to jointly promote tourism in the capital.
The MoU was signed at Metro Bhawan by DMRC’s Director (Operations), Sharat Sharma and DTTDC’s MD & CEO G G Saxena in the presence of DMRC’s Managing Director, Mangu Singh.
According to the MoU, the two corporations will work together to facilitate tourist friendly information and promote of tourism in the city through their services. As a part of this MoU, DMRC will identify spaces and locations in five Metro stations for opening up DTTDC information counters, beginning with the Dwarka metro station.
To prevent tourists from being overcharged by auto drivers and as added passenger convenience, the concept of ‘rent a bicycle’ will also be explored for implementation at the Saket Metro station. “People visiting tourist attractions like the Qutub Minar, Garden of Five Senses and Qutub Complex located close to the Saket Metro station, can rent a bicycle at nominal rates to visit these places,” a DMRC official said.
DTTDC will assist DMRC by selling Metro smart cards through its outlets. DTTDC will also provide space for the DMRC to set up stalls and kiosks during fairs.
