Mentha oil prices rose by Rs 23.40 to Rs 1,446 per kg in futures trade today due to the increased domestic as well as exports demand.

Sentiment improved further after traders engaged in creating positions on account of good demand from consuming industries and lower arrivals from Chandausi in Uttar Pradesh.

Besides, reports of lower output this season also influenced prices, traders said. At the Multi Commodity Exchange, mentha oil for delivery in December rose by Rs 23.40, or 1.64 per cent, to Rs 1,446 per kg, clocking a business volume of 858 lots.

The oil for January contract traded higher by Rs 19.70, or 1.36 per cent, to Rs 1,459.80 per kg, with a trading volume of 536 lots.
