Mentha oil rose by Rs 9 to Rs 1,394.70 per kg in futures trade today, extending yesterday's gains supported by domestic and export demand. Besides, reports of lower output this season also influenced prices.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, mentha oil for delivery in January edged higher by Rs 9, or 0.64 per cent, to Rs 1,394.70 per kg, clocking a business volume of 116 lots.

The oil for December contract traded higher by Rs 8.50, or 0.61 per cent, to Rs 1,383 per kg, with a trading volume of 800 lots.

Analysts said pick-up in export and domestic demand and lower arrivals from Chandausi in Uttar Pradesh mainly pushed up mentha oil prices at futures trade.
