The MSME Development Institute is launching a portal that will match skills of school and college drop-outs with requirements of industry opportunities to suggest the right candidate, a top official said today.

The portal, which is expected to go live by April end, is an entrepreneurship project and the Institute has identified Vizhupuram for the pilot phase launch, S Sivagnanam, Additional Industrial Advisor, MSME, Chennai, told reporters on the sidelines of the two-day National Vendor Development Programme, here.

Stating that the drop-outs from schools and colleges hunt for a job without a clue of industry requirements, Sivagnanam said MSME Development Institute would seek the help of self-help Groups for collecting statistics and uploading them.

The initial investment by the SHGs would be around Rs three to four lakh, he said.

"The objective is to create entrepreneurial activity in a village and region," he said.

The data uploaded would be matched with the requirements of the industry and suggest the person with the right skill set for the job.

MSME DI is in the process of accelerating skill development programmes to enhance the skill set of prospective candidates, Sivagnanam said.

The Micro Small and medium Enterprises Development institute (MSME DI), Chennai, was established in 1954, as field level Institute under the Ministry of MSME, Government of India.
