He congratulated the Chandigarh police for reviving the practice of Mashal Parade.

Patil said, “The Chandigarh police will be facing tough times and for that they need to have the best infrastructure in addition to being mentally and physically prepared. Skill-based training is a must for all the police officials”.

He also pointed out that modernized weapons and underground control system is a must to strengthen the police force. For the same he said that the administration will extend its full support.

The UT Director General of Police (DGP) P K Srivastava said, “FSoon a police colony will be set up in Dhanas which will provide accommodation to 1600 police officials”.

He also added that as a Diwali gift, many junior officers will be sent on training to promote them to the post of Head Constable. 194 constables participated in the mashal parade with burning mashals in their hands.

R S Ghuman, SP (Operation) and Inspector Gurdarshan Kaur received the President Police Medal. Also, Lady Constable Saroj, Constable Ajit Kumar and Lady Constable Manpreet were awarded for their performances.

In addition to the Mashal Parade, the pipe and brass band, Malkhamb, tent pegging, tattoo show, horse riding and yoga were organized.
